Със същото име е обозначаван и данъкът, който се плаща за такова парче. Освен паричен данък, зевгар е и вид отработъчна рента (ангария), при която зависимото население изпълнява различни задължения към държавата или феодала, използвайки за целта впрегатния си добитък.
